When we began planning on a new bathroom for our son Liam, we decided that we wanted a design that was timeless. We wanted a bathroom where he would be able to enjoy and grow through his early childhood through to his preteen and teenage years in case we decided to stay in this house (as the temptation to move up is always there). Since we moved into our home, I knew that all the bathrooms had to be re-done, as the builder’s design was plain, uninspiring and definitely not my taste.
As you can see in this picture, the bathroom despite being a new build, was dated and very basic.
As we all love white in this home, I wanted to continue with this theme and give a white bathroom for him. Many people disagreed with this direction and told me that I would regret this decision in time. Despite these warnings we went ahead with the white palatte and I cannot say how much I love how it turned out. It’s such a simple and clean look and I love how we can change colour accents depending on Liam’s tastes (or my moods).
I love the look of the basket weave marble floors and I thought it would be fun to add that to a little boy’s bathroom, it’s so classy and fun at the same time. He is well trained about the marble care, that whenever he spills something it has to be wiped out right away.
When it came to the vanity, we decided on a quartz counter top as I weary of the staining that can occur with marble. I added a faucet that was more contemporary but fun but to be completely honest, despite how cool it looks, I gotta tell you, I HATE cleaning it. The calcium deposits drive me absolutely crazy as its hard to get all way inside the faucet spout even with my husbands toothbrush #kiddingnotkidding.
While I’m not a big fan of the shower/ tub combo, I decided to keep the tub as it’s so nice for the kids. I’m planning on having another baby one day…sometime. Liam has always loved bath time and below is a video of him in his old bathroom asking what happened to his fingers. It was the first time he noticed he had raisins fingers were winkled from the water LOL
The shelves over the toilet were added for decoration purpose only. I styled it with a few framed signs, a little green and added a little texture with the towels.
With everything essentially done, I’m just waiting for Serena and Lily to bring this shower curtain back in grey. For now we are just using a simple white one.
Wish me luck in keeping this bathroom white! 🙂
